Superlative adjectives: the biggest, the most interesting (A2)
Superlative adjectives — это превосходная степень: когда сравниваешь трёх и больше и выбираешь «самый-самый». В работе за границей и в IT без неё никуда: the biggest bug, the most important meeting, the best candidate.
- Короткие прилагательные (1 слог) получают -est и всегда артикль the: the biggest, the fastest, the cheapest.
- Если слово уже заканчивается на -e, просто добавь -st: the largest, the nicest. Согласная после короткой гласной удваивается: big → the biggest, hot → the hottest.
- Слова на -y: y → i + -est: easy → the easiest, happy → the happiest.
- Длинные прилагательные (2+ слога) — через the most: the most interesting, the most difficult, the most popular. Не говори the interestingest.
- Запомни исключения: good → the best, bad → the worst, far → the farthest / the furthest, little → the least.
- Артикль the почти обязателен: She is the best developer in our team. Без the — только в разговорном best regards и подобном.
