Relative clauses: who / which / that — просто о сложном
Relative clauses — это придаточные предложения, которые уточняют, о ком или о чём ты говоришь: The guy who works in Berlin. Они нужны постоянно: на собеседовании, в резюме, когда объясняешь коллеге, какой файл открыть.
- О людях говорим who: the developer who fixed the bug. Слово that тут тоже можно, но who звучит аккуратнее.
- О вещах, компаниях и файлах — which: the project which starts in May. That тоже подходит.
- Когда говоришь и о людях, и о вещах сразу, или хочешь коротко — бери that: the people and tools that we need.
- После who и which не ставь ещё одно местоимение: the man who lives here, а не who he lives.
- Если предмет очевиден (my laptop, Anna), можно вообще убрать who / which / that: the laptop I bought in Poland.
- С запятой (extra information) that не ставим: Oleg, who moved to Canada, is a tester.
